I am pleased to learn that the Indian overseas Bank is celebrating its Platinum Jubilee in February 2011 and is bringing out a souvenir in commemoration.

Banking Industry today has spread its wings in almost all Blocks and up to village level reaching the common man. Gone are the days when banks have been the 'Iron Safe of the rich". Now, access for bank loan to the needy, Loans to agriculturists, Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises Units, Women Self Help Groups and for pursuing Higher Education etc have become hassle free and addressing the socio-economic problems confronting the nation are also now on the charter of banking sector.

Modern Banking has brought about an instrument of change. Introduction of ATM's Net Banking, Core Banking, Phone Banking, Money Transfer etc. have made money handling and transactions easy.

It is heartening to note that the Chennai based Indian Overseas Bank has grown to have 2000 branches with a business transaction of over Rs. 2.25 lakh crores, has been functioning effectively in strengthening the human understanding and sympathy by identifying with the hopes and aspirations of the needy and the deserving.

I wish Indian Overseas Bank grows from strength in the years to come.

I wish the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations all success.
